This stately home is located at 422 Avenel
Avenue in Bedford City, Virginia. It was built in 1904 and was at one time a part of the historic Avenel Plantation
that is located across the street (see www.historicavenel.com) and was built in 1838.
History abounds this beautiful location which is fortunate to enjoy all
four seasons. Mature oaks and magnolias are a few of the trees that share history's stories that this
most historic area of Bedford offers.
Our "Home on Avenel" is located on Bedford's famous
3 mile side-walk "walking loop" where you'll find much of history preserved while enjoying the convenience of
modern amenities. Drive or enjoy your walk to downtown Bedford's antique stores, major banks, courthouse,
museum, wellness shop, wine and java stores, excellent dining and much more! (See www.centertownbedford.com)
Another favorite to visit within 5 miles of our home is the Nationally dedicated D-Day Memorial (see: www.dday.org) . Smith Mountain Lake (see: www.smith-mountain-lake.com) is approximately 30 minutes from our home and boasts a terrific 20,600 acres of water and 500 miles of shoreline.
And no one should miss the beautiful Peaks of Otter located just minutes from our home on the Blue Ridge Parkway. There
is so much to do just steps out the front door!
